CIVIL RIGHTS LITIGATION

In the United States of America, No person or entity is above the law, regardless of station or position. Yet often the justice system seems to work differently depending on who you are and what you have. At Chavez-Freed, we are tireless pursuers of full and complete justice in the area of civil rights, no matter one’s circumstances.
Prisoners, though incarcerated, do not forfeit their constitutional rights. Abuse within prisons—whether it comes in the form of physical violence, denial of medical care, inhumane living conditions, or neglect—violates the basic dignity every person is entitled to under the law. These abuses not only harm the individuals directly affected but also undermine the integrity of our justice system. When prisons fail to protect inmates or actively violate their rights, it is essential to hold these institutions and individuals accountable.
Attorney Leticia Chavez-Freed has instituted an advocacy program dedicated to people and families who will be or are currently experiencing incarceration and all of its consequences. What can you do when your son, daughter or partner is headed to prison? The very mission of this program is to help imprisoned people get through an incarceration with as much dignity intact so they and their families may look to the future.
Criminal prosecutions are daunting. When you are charged with a crime, you face the crushing force of the prosecution, the police, and all the power and resources of the state. It can feel like it is you against the world. That is why you need a skilled, tireless, and fearless lawyer to fight for you.
